Founded in 2010, Dance Film SF is a nonprofit organization bringing dance to new audiences through the presentation and development of dance-based media. Along with the annual presentation of its award-winning San Francisco Dance Film Festival, DFSF’s year-round activities include special screenings, panels, and filmmaking workshops. Its touring and outreach programs send highlight reels to international screens and dance media into local schools. DFSF also produces original dance films through its Co-Laboratory program, matching top choreographers with professional filmmakers and creating the time, space, and budget for them to collaborate.

Over the past 3 years, DFSF has been refining its curatorial vision in order to highlight dance’s capacity to connect people of very different backgrounds and to engage and educate diverse audiences. SFDFF programs such as Raising Voices and Finding Me highlight themes of race, gender, sexuality, ability, socioeconomic status, immigration status and class through dance film.  DFSF: Judy Flannery, Randall Heath, Greta Schoenberg: Technician: Alex Irwin
