looking for partnerships and assistance for our community outreach activities
and programs.

Mentoring Program
Three emerging choreographers selected by a panel process, will have an
opportunity to be mentored by established Bay Area choreographers. The
emerging artists selected will each be paired with an established
choreographer who will work with them over a period of 5 months The
emerging artists will be invited to observe professional company rehearsals
and discuss the choreographic process with their mentors. Mentors will
attend three showings, of the emerging artists’ works–in–progress and
participate in discussions about the emerging artists’ work. The program will
culminate into an original piece being premiered on the Festival’s concert stage.
Technical Training Program
Geared for African American men and women, from local high schools and
colleges to train in aspects of technical theater - including basic stage crew,
stage management, and lighting design, culminating in working on stage crew
amongst seasoned professionals running the Festival.
Workshop & Classes
Festival workshops and master classes - Representing the diversity of dance
disciplines presented in the Festival concerts, free and low-cost choreography
and dance workshops will be offered for youth and adults. Established artists
and their companies will be offering arts education opportunities for
elementary, middle and high schools, colleges and dance centers. Activities
include master classes, lecture demonstrations, mini-performances and open
rehearsals.
